Michael McCoy, BS, MS, DVM

Dr. McCoy is a native of Kansas and a graduate of Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Manhattan, Kansas. After earning his BS in 1973, he accepted an internship for one year in the large animal ambulatory unit at Cornell University’s School of Veterinary Medicine, Ithaca, New York. At the end of that year, he was offered an instructor’s position in the Large Animal Department of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, Alabama. While at Auburn University he obtained a Masters Degree in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery, selecting his primary coursework in horses and dedicating his thesis to the study of lameness in horses using thermography. After completing his Masters in 1977 he moved to Jackson County to be near family.

Dr. McCoy is licensed to practice in Mississippi and Alabama. He is a member of several Veterinary organizations, including: Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, South Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association, and Mobile Veterinary Medical Association.
